It was added last week
-
I saw that it was added, but I think you should change the version number.
VulnDetect shows the version number 3.0.0 Build 120
In the Status Bar of the app I show Version 3.0 (3.0.0 Build 120).
In About I show the version 3.0.
In the Version History in the tab "About" I reduced all version numbers to X.X (to make it easier for users). So you should change the displayed version to 3.0.
-
Tom, one year ago I asked you to alter the version number, but nothing happened!
VulnDetect still shows the version number 3.0.0 Build 120.
This is really embarrassing! -
@OLLI_S It is hard to argue with the develop himself.
But again I have to disagree.
Currently we have 7 rules for the Toolbox. All are 3.0, yet they are different builds.
If we don't show the build information, how can we tell users to upgrade to the latest build?
This is a good example of a case where we disregard whatever the software developer shows or publishes, because else we can't tell the difference, so we'd rather err to the side of having too much details, rather than too little.
Btw. which version and build is the latest and recommended? Is it still 3.0 build 120?
-
@Tom I did not know that there are so many rules for the Toolbox and so many versions.
The reason why you have them: when I was using VulnDetect personal I excluded the folders in my Toolbox (when you start a system scan).
But in Cororate I scan my system via the "Hosts" page, so here all folders will be scanned.
And I can not yet exclude folders from scan.Yes, 3.0.0 Build 120 is the recommended version.
In VulnDetect you show 3.0.0.120 so please alter the version number to 3.0.0 Build 120.
Thank you! -
@OLLI_S
Fixed -
At SecTeer, we only use X.Y.Z in our public releases.
So all internal / test releases will always be X.Y.Z(-1).build compared to the public release, that will be X.Y.Z.0.
This way it easy to make a distinction between binaries for release and those that are purely internal / for testing.
BTW. the Toolbox has got two channels, as we call them here, one which is for releases, and another one for the pre-release builds that we spot - thus they are automatically flagged as Pre-release in the UI.
-
Toolbox for VulnDetect is now detected by VulnDetect and the version number 3.0.0.120 is also correct.
@Tom: Thank you for adding this app! -
